The Seventh Tower Series.

Tal, a Chosen of the Orange Order, is having the worst luck lately. Just when he is getting ready for the Day of Ascension--a day when all the 13-year-old Chosen from the Castle of Seven Towers enter the spirit world of Aenir--his father disappears with the family's only primary Sunstone, which Tal needs for the ascension. Without it, he cannot enter Aenir and bind himself to a Shadowspirit--a kind of guardian being that serves as a friend and protector to the person it is bound to. And without a Shadowspirit, Tal will lose both his Chosen status and any hope of finding a cure for his mother's mysterious wasting illness, a cure that can only come from Aenir. Tal tries to beg, borrow, and even steal a Sunstone. But his attempts fail, and in his final act of thievery, Tal is thrown off the Castle of Seven Towers by a powerful Shadowspirit Keeper and into an adventure beyond his imagining.

The Dark World is a place of ice, wind, and fury. A veil of black covers the sky. In a world, only the Castle shines with light. Tal and Milla are struggling to make it to the Castle, each on a dangerous mission. For Tal, a Chosen, the Castle is home - even though he is not welcome anymore. For Milla, an Icecarl warrior, the Castle is a strange and mysterious place. Her presence is a threat that the Castle dwellers want to stop...at any cost. From the deadly Hall of Nightmares to the magical chambers of Tal's great-uncle Ebbitt, Tal and Milla must navigate the Castle without being discovered. Sinister forces are conspiring against them. It will take all their strength to survive.

Aenir is the third part of this six volume series by Garth Nix. In this part Tal and Milla journey through the dream world of Aenir to find the Codex, a book that Tal needs to help rescue his father and save his family. As with the previous two books, the author develops the relationship between Tal and Milla, two people that thought they had nothing in common. Here, they realize that, in fact, they are more alike than they are different. The experiences that they have had together have made them both realize that they can never go back to their former way of life, Tal as a Choosen of the castle and Milla as an Ice Carl girl in the dark frozen world outside the castle. Nix's character development is superb.

Nix picks his adventure up in midstride, sending renegade aristocrat Tal from the lowest depths of the immense, sunless Castle in which he has spent most of his young life to one of its highest peaks, and dispatching Tal's warrior companion, Milla, back to her ice-dwelling people with a warning that the Veil protecting the world from the deadly shadowrealm Aenir is weakening.

Milla has returned to the Icecarls. But instead of being left to the mercy of the Ice, as she believed she would be because of her Spiritshadow, she is made War-Chief of all the Icecarls, charged with leading an assault on the Castle. The Icecarls believe they must destroy the Chosen in order to keep the Veil from falling and the inhabitants of Aenir from invading the Dark World. Meanwhile, Tal is on a quest to save his family, free his father, and defeat Sushin, the evil being behind everything. Tal and Milla were once forced to work together. Now, they are on opposite sides of the battle, not realizing that they have a common enemy. Both are in a race against time to save their worlds. Can they succeed before it is too late? All fans of the Seventh Tower series won't want to miss this, the latest thrilling book in the saga. The wait until the sixth book comes out in November is far too long.

Er... Sry about it being so big... dont know how to size things... here's a summery >^_^<

The growing power of Sushin has never been more apparent, and Tal and Milla are fighting for their people from ultimate corruption. What started out for a search for a Sunstone to save his dying mother has led Tal to an unbelievable adventure -- and a terrifying journey. Milla, Warrior Chief of the Icecarls, is fighting fiercely for salvation. And the haunting power of the Violet Keystone rests in the balance. The two children are fighting a war that holds the key to their destiny. The hideous plan for the destruction of the Dark World may come at last if Sushin is not stopped in time. And the outcome lies in the hands of two children... and one powerful evil. The Seventh Tower #6: The Violet Keystone is the unforgettable and page-turning conclusion to the Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix. I'm going to miss this series very much, as it was one of the best fantasy series I have ever read. But the legend lives on.
