This page is dedicated to Garth Nix's Sabriel. Its a great book, and i really, really love it. It will also have Lirael, Sabriel's sequel, and a brief paragraph about Abhorsen, the sequel to Lirael.(hopefully!)

Okie, sry about the size, dont know how to adjust it... heres a brief summery/review of Sabriel. For many years Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the random power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who won't stay dead. But now her father, the Charter-Mage Abhorsen, is missing, and to find him Sabriel must cross back into that world. Though her journey begins alone, she soon finds companions: Mogget, whose seemingly harmless feline form hides a powerful -- and perhaps malevolent -- spirit, and Touchstone, a Charter-Mage long imprisoned by magic, now free in body but still trapped by painful memories. With threats on all sides and only each other to trust, the three of them must travel deep into the Old Kingdom, toward a battle that will pit them against the true forces of life and death -- and bring Sabriel face-to-face with her own hidden destiny. A tale of dark secrets, deep love, and dangerous magic! This all of course comes from Garth's site.

Here's a link to Sabriel's site... it kinda sucks, but, i had to put it...

HORN BOOK Expanding on the fantasy world he created in Sabriel (rev. 1/97), Nix intimates in this sequel that there are worse things in store for the Abhorsen, a necromancer given the hereditary charge of protecting the Old Kingdom from incursions of the Dead. Something long buried is being dug up, and thousands of Southerling refugees are being brought across the border and slain, their reanimated bodies used as slave labor. In the North, under the Clayr's Glacier, a more personal drama is unfolding. Lirael, a fatherless Clayr misfit, has not yet Awoken to the Sight, the ability to see the future that the rest of the Clayr take great pride in. Ashamed of this defect and wanting to hide herself away, Lirael stealthily explores the library, a repository for magical objects, strange exhibits, and dangerous creatures. Lirael's adventures alternate with those of Prince Sameth, Sabriel's son and Abhorsen-in-Waiting. Trying to save his schoolmates from the walking dead, Sameth is forced into a battle with Hedge, a corrupted necromancer, that leaves him scarred and terrified of anything having to do with Death-a disaster for the future Abhorsen. Nix invests the Old Kingdom of his story with a Gothic ambiance that is at once dark, heroic, and resolute, as befits a country locked in a struggle with the dead; the ingenuity used in the first book to create the necromancer's bells is matched in the sequel in the fantastically constructed library of the Clayr. Nix's imaginative magical descriptions, plot intrigues, and adventure sequences are outstanding, but in Lirael the magnificent build-up is cause for frustration: Sameth and Lirael do join forces eventually, but the expected confrontation with Hedge is put off until the next book, a fact not revealed until long after it's clear that Lirael lacks a climax. There is resolution of a sort-Lirael discovers her heritage, and Sameth his future-but until Abhorsen comes out, there will be plenty of readers on the edge of their seats.
